My daughter just turned 3 this week and still nurses to sleep. She now really only wants "mama milk" when she is tired. I am glad to see we're not the only ones. Yes my three year old. I don't usually post the month. And i feel a little duh doing it now. But it's to the day and I had an email about it right before i posted this.. and i guess it stuck in my head.
If your child has teeth, you are setting them up for cavities if you breast feed them to sleep. Look up baby bottle decay. Even though they are on your breast and not a bottle, they are still putting sugars in their mouth that sit there all night long.

My baby always falls asleep when he nurses even when it's not nap or bed time. He doesn't take good naps but sleeps very well at night so I don't see why the problem is. I nursed my now 14 month old every night to sleep and he's now weaning himself now that he doesn't really need the calories. It's a comfort thing and he'll nurse sometimes for 3 minutes then turn away and fall asleep on his own. He still nurses longer when he isn't feeling well but it hasn't hasn't made weaning harder and actually I'm really going to miss those moments of nursing/cuddling when they're gone for good.
