Small point, but worthy of note: Spiders are also arthropods. The name comes from the Greek, meaning 'jointed leg'. I knew it was all going to go downhill when Rupert Murdoch bought you guys. I think it's a big point that this offering doesn't convey the term arthropod correctly. This piece definitely is sub par.
You're aware that spiders are also arthropods, right? That's the phylum (group) they both belong to, not a subcategory that applies only to one of them. Yeah, saying a spider is an anthropoid really isn't saying much. Butterflies are anthropoids as are any other invertebrate with a hard exoskeleton.

True enough, Sharon. Since the sacking of NG's award winning writers, I shall be watching with interest who Mr Murdoch hires to replace them. What they should have said is; 'Ocean creepy crawlies are arthropods, as genuine insects seem to be, yet have a place with an alternate Class-Pycnogonida. There are more than 1300 known species, extending in size from 0.039 of an inch to about a yard over.'
